Betty White cherished the 3 story beachfront home she built with husband Allen Ludden in 1981. This Carmel Valley home was her sanctuary when she could recharge and rejuvenate. What I don’t understand is how she could ever return to the hustle and bustle of celebrity life in Los Angeles.

Betty and Allen Ludden bought a quarter acre lot just south of San Francisco and hired architect Richard Hicks to build this seaside getaway. Hicks described the home this way. “Infused with an effervescent energy, the 3-story manor offers a parade of serene moments from outdoor decks, discrete spaces lush with blooms and through generous windows that showcase the majesty of land meeting sea.” Now, that’s a getaway!

Step outside any of the patio areas and you’re strolling through majestic garden areas on your way to the beach. Needless to say, sunsets would make stunning views every evening.

Betty White passed away recently and her estate has placed her 40 year sanctuary on the market for $8 million. Click here for more views of the home.
